More from UAB visit

The Athena squad was then treated to a tour of the state of the art athletics facilities, including practice courts exclusive to the women’s program, strength and conditioning facilities where the team met with the strength and conditioning coaches followed by visits to the training room, recovery rooms, locker rooms, film rooms, player’s lounge, finishing up with UAB’s home court, Bartow Arena. The arena is a multi-purpose athletics facility and home to UAB’s men’s and women’s basketball teams as well as women’s volleyball, the arena sits 8500 people.

The girls also got an opportunity to tour the student housing of UAB and see how freshmen and upperclassmen live during their college careers followed by a tour of the student center, finishing up in the cafeteria where the Athena players had lunch with the UAB women’s basketball team, getting a chance to mingle and speak with current players one on one. After lunch, head coach Randy Norton invited the Athena team to his office to talk about the vision for the UAB program and what colleges look for in players during the recruiting process.

A great day for Athena’s players who got an extensive look behind the scenes as to what it takes to make a college basketball program successful and what it takes for a player to be successful. Huge thanks to Coach Norton and the entire UAB staff for making this visit as pleasant as it was.
