Athena is once again offering a highly ambitious coaching academy this year.

Our academy is dedicated to nurturing coaches across all levels, from grassroots to professional, with a comprehensive and holistic approach to coaching. We emphasize not only sport-specific skill and physical development but also the critical mental and social aspects of coaching. A key component of our program is the integration of the “Key Habits Leadership” program, which empowers coaches with essential leadership skills.

We also prioritize coaching organization and development, ensuring that our coaches are well-equipped to manage and elevate their teams effectively. To support this, we utilize the cutting-edge XPS Network coaching software, enabling our coaches to optimize their training strategies and player development processes.

BRYNJAR KARL,
COACHING ACADEMY DIRECTOR

Brynjar Karl, the visionary founder of Key Habits and Sideline Sports, has significantly impacted the sports world through his innovative coaching methods and dedication to talent development. With a rich history of consulting for professional teams in prestigious leagues such as the NBA, NFL, and the English Premier League, Brynjar’s expertise is globally recognized.

For over a decade, Brynjar led the online coaching course for FIBA World, offering game analysis for all Olympic and World Championship events. His pioneering spirit also led to the creation of FSu Basketball, Iceland’s first sports academy within the school system. Under his guidance, FSu Basketball became the youngest club with the youngest squad to compete in the Icelandic Premier League.

In 2021, Brynjar’s revolutionary coaching methods gained international attention with the release of the documentary Raise the Bar. This inspiring film follows a girls’ team striving for higher standards and better opportunities in women’s basketball, showcasing Brynjar’s profound influence.

As an experienced executive coach and lecturer, Brynjar specializes in the mental training aspect of talent development and team building. His latest venture, Athena Basketball, founded in 2019, has quickly become a fast-growing club. Despite starting in the most challenging facility in Iceland, Athena Basketball has thrived, moving to a new gym in uptown Reykjavík. In just two years, the women’s team has risen to compete with Iceland’s best, thanks to Brynjar’s exceptional leadership.

Participants
The course is limited to 5 coaches. Minimum requirements are that participants must be over 18 years old and have experience in coaching or playing basketball.

Schedule
Classes are held on weekends in the mornings, with practical sessions arranged on weekdays by agreement.

Cost
The course fee is $10,000. Scholarships covering 50-100% of the fee are available. (Contact us for more information)
